Before installing the connections to your Velmix LQ, make sure you have all the parts you need and that your workspace is clear of any items not related to the Velmix LQ.
NOTE : All connectors have orientation guides, both on the cable connectors and on the housing connectors, as shown below:
To connect your Velmix LQ :
Position the Velmix controller so that you can view it from above.
Insert the power connector (AVP-002115) with the orientation guide downwards into the Velmix's left rear connector and turn the connector coupling ring counter-clockwise until you feel the mechanism lock into place.
Do the same for the RS232 or Ethernet communication cable with the right rear connector.
If not already installed, insert the activator connector (AZV-200010) and turn the coupling ring firmly clockwise.
The Velmix LQ liquor controller, with either RS232 or Ethernet IP interface, is designed specifically for use with PayFacto's Veloce Point of Sale (POS) software. For an efficient work zone, place the Velmix LQ controller, activator holder, bottles and POS screen close together. The user will frequently have to touch the screen while handling the bottles.
NOTE : Before you begin the installation, check the counter top thickness to ensure that the screws won't protrude through the top.
To install your Velmix LQ:
Firmly screw the controller and activator bracket (AZC-900036) to the underside of the counter top using the supplied screws (AZC-501035).
Connect the RS232 communication cable (AVP-002113) to the Veloce POS or the Ethernet cable (AVP-002118) to the network.
Plug the 120V cord into the power supply, then into the 120V outlet.
IMPORTANT! Do not alter the angle or bend the activator support, as Velmix automatically releases the plug (if programmed) when in the resting position. Bending the support may prevent this function from working properly.
To ensure the proper operation of your Velmix LQ, please observe the following warnings:
Use only original PayFacto components with the Velmix LQ.
To avoid risk of electric shock, place the Velmix LQ power supply (AVP-002115) in a dry place.
Do not immerse the stopper activator (AZV-200010) in water.
Avoid striking the activator.
Do not use the activator to break ice.
Use a damp cloth to clean the activator.
The Velmix LQ controller (232 or IP) includes the following components:
The Velmix LQ controller components offer different functions and information, listed below:

To use the Velmix LQ controller, you need to install stoppers on all the liquor bottles you want to control with your Veloce POS.
To install a stopper on a bottle:
Make sure you have the correct size seal (1) on the stopper and insert the pressure reducer (2) into the bottle's neck.
Insert the stopper into the neck of the bottle.
Remove the pressure reducer from the neck of the bottle.
Push the stopper all the way down into the neck of the bottle. When complete, refer to the procedure to install the bottle seals.
Multifunction button
N - Ethernet network status LED (not used with Velmix LQ RS232)
S - LED status indicator
Activator connector
To secure the stoppers in place and ensure proper operation of the Velmix LQ, you need to install seals on the bottles. Each seal is fitted with vent holes (1) and must be positioned so that the vent holes are aligned with the stopper's fly guard (2).
To install seals on the bottles:
Locate the vent holes on the side of the seal (AZC-500914) and the fly guard on the stopper.
Slide the seal over the bottle stopper, making sure that the 2 holes at the top of the seal are positioned over the fly guard.
Using a hot-air gun set to medium temperature, rotate the bottle 360 degrees while heating evenly around the seal. The seal should follow the contours of the stopper and bottle. Take care not to over heat the seal, as the ventilation holes may become too large, leaving the seal brittle.
To remove a seal, cut vertically with a knife, then pull the seal away from the neck of the bottle.
The bottle stoppers must be cleaned regularly to ensure optimal operation of the Velmix LQ.
Sweet alcohols tend to clog stoppers. The use of the " Stopper Cap " (AZC-501111) helps to block any air that might enter the stopper, thus reducing the risk of blockage.
Two cleaning methods are described below:
Option 1: Cleaning the stopper on the bottle: to be used if the stopper cannot be removed from the bottle prior to cleaning.
Option 2: Cleaning the stopper with the stopper washer: offers the best results and should be performed every time the bottle is changed.
To clean the stopper while it is on the bottle:
Open the hot water tap.
Let the hot water run for 1 to 2 minutes over the stopper while rotating the bottle.
To clean the stopper with the stopper washer:
Remove the stopper from the bottle.
Install the stopper washer on the tap.
Insert stopper into stopper washer.
Open and run the hot water for a few minutes to rinse the stopper thoroughly.
The Velmix LQ IP version uses an Ethernet network to communicate with the Veloce POS workstation. Several Velmix LQ IP controllers can be connected to the Ethernet network at the same time with multiple Veloce POS workstations present on site. An individual Veloce POS workstation must know which Velmix LQ IP controller it is assigned to for use. The pairing operation links the Veloce POS workstation to the Velmix LQ IP controller.
IMPORTANT! The Veloce POS pairing procedure described below is only available for the Velmix LQ IP. Generally, the procedure will be performed by an authorized PayFacto reseller or a member of PayFacto technical support with the necessary technical knowledge. It is presented to you in case you need to do the pairing without the assistance of a PayFacto representative.
To pair the Velmix LQ IP with the Veloce POS workstation:
Take note of the serial number of the Velmix controller to pair.
In the Veloce POS to be paired with the Velmix LQ IP identified in step 1, go to: Functions > Beverage control > Controls configuration.
To set the Velmix LQ IP into pairing mode, make sure the activator is in the rest position on the activator holder, with no stopper in the activator. Press and hold the Velmix multifunction button for 20 seconds until the Ethernet N status LED glows red briefly, followed by flashing yellow, then release the button. The Velmix will send a DHCP request to obtain an IP address from the router.
After the Velmix obtains the DHCP address, the Ethernet N status LED flashes green. The Velmix then transmits a UDP broadcast to be detected by the Veloce POS workstation.
On the Veloce POS workstation, select the desired Velmix LQ configuration in the Beverage control menu. The Controls configuration menu displays all Velmix LQ controllers currently in pairing mode. Select the Velmix LQ controller to be paired with the previously selected configuration.
After selecting the Velmix to pair with Veloce POS, select the network connection mode:
DHCP mode (default) where the Velmix controller's IP address may change depending on the router,
or
Disable DHCP mode to use a static IP address. With static mode, you can assign the IP address of your choice according to your network specifications.
To complete the pairing, click the Use as configured button.
A Configuration success message appears. On the Velmix LQ IP controller, the Ethernet N status LED may flash blue for a few seconds; when the TCP/IP connection is established, the LED will remain a solid blue and the pairing process will be complete.
NOTE : If the pairing process fails, a message appears indicating that the timeout period has been exceeded. Repeat the pairing procedure starting from step 3.
There are two ways to use the Velmix LQ to pour a product:
NOTE : If the automatic stopper release option is activated on the Veloce POS, the stopper will open and close quickly (up to 3 times).
The color of the S (status indicator) LED on the face of the Velmix controller changes according to the descriptions in the Velmix LQ 232-IP Controller section.
With the activator at rest in the activator holder, insert the bottle into the activator; the stopper must be fully inserted into the activator (no gap between stopper and activator).
Turn the bottle upside down, the stopper will open and the quantity programmed in the Veloce POS will be poured.
If multiple glasses are to be poured, bring the bottle to the horizontal position and turn it upside down again.
Repeat step 3 for all glasses to be poured without repeat mode.
